Hemispherectomy Foundation Australia Family Conference 2021

We are very excited to announce next year’s family conference in the beautiful, harbour side city of Sydney.  The dates of the conference are Friday 9-4.30pm 28th and 9.30-1.00pm 29th May 2021.  Registrations will be from 6-7.30pm Thursday 27th May.

The conference will be held at the Novotel Darling Harbour Hotel, which is centrally located in the Darling Harbour precinct of Sydney surrounded by wonderful things for our kids and families to do, such as the Aquarium, Sydney Wildlife Zoo, the Maritime Museum and a terrific kid’s playground.

We think the venue suits the theme of our 2021 conference down to a tee, which is all about our families.  Conference sessions will focus on bring up a hemispherectomy child and helping them reach their full potential, and that means looking after and supporting the whole family – parents, step-parents, grandparents and siblings.  Conference sessions will be confirmed in the coming months.

We are also delighted to confirm that once again there no conference fees and we strongly encourage all families to utilise their child’s NDIS plans to assist with travel and accommodation costs.  Some costs should be able to be claimed under the Capacity Building budget – “Improved Daily Living – Training for parents/carers”. If you need a support worker to attend the conference, then the costs should be claimed under the Core Budget – “accessing the community”.  Ask your NDIS support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator for assistance.
