Hemispherectomy Foundation Australia Family Conference 2022 – Sydney
Date reschedule and new venue!
Due to COVID-19 impacts, our family conference has been moved until 2022. We are very optimistic that the conference will proceed on our new dates of Friday 9am-4.30pm 4th and 9.00am-4.00pm 5th March 2022. Registrations will be from 6-7.30pm Thursday 3rd March 2022.
The conference will now be held at the Swissotel, which is centrally located in the Sydney CBD and a hop, skip and jump from beautiful Hyde Park. Our change of venue has been made necessary by our original venue of the Novotel Darling Harbour remaining a quarantine hotel.
This year’s conference sessions will focus on bring up a hemispherectomy child and helping them reach their full potential, and that means looking after and supporting the whole family – parents, step-parents, grandparents and siblings. Our provisional program will be uploaded shortly
A competitive rate for accommodation of 10% off the best available rate has been secured for everyone staying at the Swissotel.
However, there is a large range of accommodation available at nearby Darling Harbour and around the Swissotel. The Holiday Inn, Darling Harbour or The Grace Hotel both have family rooms at reasonable prices.
We are also delighted to confirm that once again there no conference fees and we encourage all families to explore potential to utilise some of their child’s NDIS plan to assist with conference attendance costs. Some costs should be able to be claimed under the Capacity Building budget – “Improved Daily Living – Training for parents/carers”. If you need a support worker to attend the conference, then the costs should be claimed under the Core Budget – “Accessing the community”. Ask your NDIS support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator for assistance.
This web page will be updated as further conference details are confirmed. If you have any questions in the meantime please contact our team on any of the numbers below:
